US - KTM riders took charge and wrapped up a combined 19 championships over the past two weeks at the Ponca City Grand Amateur National and the AMA Loretta Lynn’s Amateur National Championship.

The Ponca City Grand Amateur National took place July 22-28, 2007 in Ponca City, OK. KTM’s Junior SX/MX Team Rider Blake Wharton took home three championships in the Ponca heat winning the 125 2-stroke Non-Pro, 250 4-stoke Non Pro, and the 125/250 Schoolboy thru 16 Non Pro. His teammate Derek “Country” Rogers grabbed almost every holeshot throughout the week which put him up front and helped him secure two more titles for KTM in the 250 2-stroke Non Pro and the 250 Stock Intermediate classes. KTM Amateur Racing Team rider James Justice beat his rivals for the championship in the 85 14-15 Mod class. KTM mounted rider Mark Worth picked up two wins in the 65 6-8 Mod and Stock classes. North Carolina’s Cooper Webb took home the 65 9-11 Stock title and Nevada’s Jesse Masterpool took home the 65 Open 7-11. KTM veteran riders Glenn Myatt, Trampas Parker and Scotty Hubbard also took home titles in the Plus 30 Open Non Pro, Plus 30 Pro and Plus 40 Open Non Pro respectively. Overall KTM riders had more wins than any other bike manufacturer at the Ponca City event bringing home KTM’s first ever Ponca City Manufacturers Cup Win.

The Loretta Lynn’s Amateur National took place July 30 – August 4, 2007 at the famous Loretta Lynn’s Ranch. KTM Junior SX/MX Racing Team riders and brothers Blake and Tyler Wharton each took home a championship for the second consecutive year in a row. Blake swept every moto of the Schoolboy 12-15 class for the win and Tyler picked up a hard earned overall in the Four-Stroke class. Thirteen year old Chiara Fontanesi came all the way from Italy to earn the gold medal in the Girls 9-13 class in a dominating fashion finishing 30 seconds ahead of her opponents each moto. KTM rider Jesse Masterpool took home his second title in two weeks with a championship in the 65 7-11 Mod class. Jarek Balkovic picked up his first Loretta Lynn’s win in the 65 10-11 Stock class and the young and fast KTM Dogpound rider Alexander Frye went 1-1-1 to grab the title in the 65 7-9 Stock class.
