We purchased the 2005 K1200LT after a test ride, riding the 2001 Wing 120 miles to the dealer. Jumping off the Wing onto the BMW, we noticed a firmer more controlled ride. The BMW doesn't have the low-end torque the Wing has, but take it above 5000 rpm and you had better hold on!
I bought the BMW 1200 miles from home in Ft. Myers, FL from a great dealership. We rode to the Keys and then home finishing with over 2000 miles for the first ride. My wife likes the BMW over the Wing, but I think it's because it's a BMW instead of a Honda.
If you're trying to choose between a Wing and a K1200LT, you have a tough decision. There are a couple little things that bother me about the BMW: The 20 mph increments on the speedometer and the turn signals (auto cancel) last too long. The turn signals don't stay on long enough on the Wing. The hydraulic center stand and the power windshield are wonderful on the BMW. The Wing windshield adjustment is a piece of crap!
Your decision should be made on whether you ride in hot or cool whether. The BMW is a cool machine and the Wing will make you sweat.
That's all I know.
Upgrades/Accessories: BMW has it all - Heated seats, ABS, heated grips, 6 CD changer, Motorad navigation system, many more.
Wing has ABS, heated grips, 6 CD changer, CB, etc.
